Snow in Wellington!
I have now had 2 weeks back at school & it has raced by... Only 7 more weeks until the next holidays!
Last Saturday I got my hair done. I had been meaning to go shorter for a while, & took advantage of a 'Treatme' half-price voucher at Buoy, which is one of Wellington's better salons. Not somewhere where I could afford to get my hair cut without a voucher anyway! That night Will & I, along with Lucy & Paul, went to an Avalanche City gig at Hope Bros pub in town. We first had an early dinner at Red Ginger on Tory St. Lovely food, I would highly recommend it. We had 'buy one get one free' mains from our entertainment book, & Will & I both had the duck which was amazing.
We then headed to the venue. I had rung up earlier in the week to find out when the support act was coming on, & was told 7:30. Instead of the support act at that time we got the rugby instead, which was brilliant! Lucy was the only one not quite so impressed, not exactly being the biggest of rugby fans... Anyway, the rugby finished & Luke Thompson came on. He was good, a young guitar playing singer/songwriter. Next up was the main act. Avalanche City were awesome, I really enjoyed the show. I have loved the band ever since seeing the cute as cute video for their first single 'Love love love'
Sunday night I filled in at interclub badminton. We were playing the top, previously unbeaten team & we managed to sneak a 4-3 win. It was very very tight... I ended up winning my doubles & mixed in 3 sets, & just managed to get my singles in 2. It was 21-19 in the second, & just as well I won because I was playing some fit young thing who probably would have taken me in the 3rd! I hadn't played singles for close to a year, & as it was I was sore for a few days after!
This weekend has been nice & relaxed, although before I could get to it I had to endure the year 11 semi-formal at school on Friday night. It was meant to go from 7-11pm, but I was still there at 11:30 as one of the girls didn't get picked up on time. It was lovely to see all the girls dressed up & looking amazing, but the night did drag somewhat... The girls took it all very seriously, being 'THE' big social event of the year for them. By the time they bought new dress, new shoes, got professional hair & make-up done, plus in some cases forked out for a spray-tan, it would have ended up costing them a small fortune!
On Saturday Hiria & I went to watch the Wellington Pride (Wellington women's rep rugby team) absolutely smash Manawatu. 3 ladies from our club were starting for the Pride so it was nice to go & support them. There were a few other team mates there in support as well which was good. The match was played at Lyndhurst Park out Tawa way, so afterwards we had a wander around the dressmart factory outlets in Tawa.
Today has been all about the weather. It snowed! In Wellington!!! I can't quite believe it... We had been forecast some sleety showers & they arrived late afternoon, followed by the snow. It was a reasonable amount & was starting to settle on the ground. I was very very excited by it all!
I did feel a little bit sorry for my spring flowers & bulbs, they won't have known what hit them!
Will was out taking some photos for me, & he too ended up slightly worse for wear!
No other news. The snow has now stopped, but there is currently some pretty full-on hail happening. What's going on with this planet of ours??!
