Tarangire National Park

First on the agenda at Tarangire was a guided bush walk. You are not allowed to walk in the actual national park, but the parks don't have fences, so the animals are free to wander to & from the national park on the adjoining land. Even on foot we saw a lot, including wildebeast, giraffe, zebra & antelopes. That afternoon we did our first game drive in the park. Tarangire is famous for it's elephants, & they certainly didn't disappoint! The next day was another full day of game driving in the park. Here we were lucky enough to see a lion kill. It was very exciting, & very rare to see one in this park as it is quite hilly with dense vegetation. Willy has been guiding for 6 years, & this is the first time he had seen lions making a kill in Tarangire. A pack of lions attacked a herd of zebra in the river bed & managed to take one down. I didn't manage any good pics of the action (it was all over in a flash!) but Willy then took us to the other side of the river bed where we got some lovely shots of the lions relaxing & drinking after they had eaten their fill. Check out the blood on some of the faces & paws!
