School's out for summer!
"No more pencilsThat's from a classic Alice Cooper song... It's a great feeling being on holiday & having 9 weeks stretching out in front of me... I fly on Wednesday, so most of the time between now & then will be spent making sure I'm fully sorted. I can't quite believe I'll be in Ecuador in a few days! I've sorted most of my accommodation, there are just a few days where I have to play it by ear. I might do a separate post after this one with my itinerary on it (subject to change of course!) so people have an idea of where I am & when.
No more books
No more teacher's dirty
looks"
We've got some exciting news (no, I'm NOT pregnant, lets not jump the gun... & no we haven't set a wedding date either!). We've finally been told we can move into the flat we've been pushing for the last couple of months. It really is exciting, it's much bigger than the place we are currently living in, & it's a nice 5-10 minute walk through the woods & golf-course to school. It's in a large house that has been converted into an upstairs & downstairs flat. We have the downstairs place. The upstairs flat has 2 bedrooms & a study, & our place is exactly the same floor space but with only 1 bedroom, but 2 large living areas. It'll be great for Will to be able to move in properly, as most of the last year he has pretty much been living out of the boot of his car & going home for clean clothes every now & then! The garden is also large, but needs a bit of work. The current resident moves out this weekend, & we get the keys on Monday. We'll move straight after we get back from South America on August 8th, & have to be fully moved in by the 15th, at which stage someone new takes over my current flat. I think the bursar finally said I could have the place to stop me constantly nagging him! The nice thing is that now Will will be able to rent out his house, & a couple of months of his rent will cover the whole of our accommodation expenses for the year! Dirt cheap on-site accommodation is one of the biggest perks of working at a private school.
